We seem to have forgotten the basics of continuance of life, which is this simple. The sun produces the energy which plants convert to an energy that we can ingest directly by eating plants or indirectly by eating animals that eat the plants. Without the sun or the plants we along with all life on the planet would soon cease. Yet we continue to destroy the ecosystem that supports life. We pollute the air, water and soil, we deplete natural resources and in doing so we gradually destroy links in the chain of life all for the sake of money. Are we any happier for this, do we see negative social behavior decreasing, are all our people better off, not from what I can see. As for New Zealand we have slipped from having the third best living standard in the world to somewhere around twentieth, gaps between rich and poor have dramatically increased which has resulted in a similar increase in crime. It is obvious that if we continue along our current path our society will become more fragmented and will eventually collapse. This does not need to happen, we are the only life form on this planet that has the ability to either destroy or save this planet and at the moment the vast majority is unwittingly destroying it. So how do we go about changing our direction from negative to positive? We cannot rely on governments or big business to change as it is the money that is earnt from environmentally destructive practices that supports them. We as individuals with a common purpose are the only ones
who can make it happen and if we wait it will be too late. Even as you read this life forms that have evolved over millions of years and that are an integral part of life on this planet are vanishing forever. Try typing the word extinction into a search engine and see what is really happening to the environment that supports us.
So how do we change our ways and advance as a species. We can't just stop what we are doing now and change overnight, we need to earn money to survive. The majority of us have to work to achieve this. So we need a positive system that will take us from where we are now into a ecologically sustainable future. For our species to survive we have to do this and to be able to achieve this we are going to have invent new systems, products and services. This is going to be the major growth area, as everyone will eventually have to change to survive. This will be the next boom and there will be no bust, it will allow us to enjoy this planet of ours that we as individuals spend such a short time on. It will eventually bring to a halt negative aspects of human behavior. It will enable us to turn our minds, energy and resources to a globally achievable positive goal, Which is to allow all to live happy and fulfilled lives in harmony with our environment.
